What’s LED Display Control System

The LED Display Control System is a solution designed to control large LED screens according to user requirements. Based on networking methods, it is categorized into two main types:

  • Networked Version: Also known as the LED Information Release Control System, it enables cloud-based control of each LED terminal.
  • Stand-alone Version: Often referred to as the LED Display Controller or Control Card. This is the core component responsible for converting external video input signals or onboard multimedia files into digital signals that can be displayed by the LED screen. Functionally, it is similar to the graphics card in a personal computer, except it drives a large LED screen rather than a CRT/LCD.

In terms of signal access mode, LED control systems can be divided into synchronous and asynchronous types.

PCBA Structure and Details

The product comprises three boards: one main board and two connector boards.

Main Board Specifications

  • Layers: 2-layer PCB
  • Thickness: 1.6mm
  • Copper: 1oz
  • Surface Finish: Lead-Free HASL
  • Solder Mask: Blue with white silkscreen
  • Material: FR4, TG130
  • Standard: IPC Class 2
  • Track Width & Spacing: Common industry standard

For mass production, we panelize two boards per panel, with 10mm edge clearance and four fiducial marks. After assembly, edges are trimmed. There are no X-out boards, and all procedures comply with standard PCBA processes.

Connector Boards Specifications

  • Quantity: Two connector boards
  • Layers: 2-layer PCB
  • Thickness: 1.6mm
  • Copper: 1oz
  • Surface Finish: Lead-Free HASL
  • Solder Mask: Blue with white silkscreen

We panelize two longer connector boards in one panel, combined with four smaller boards. Each panel includes a 10mm edge and four mark holes. Boards are trimmed post-assembly. All specs meet industry standards.

Application and Production Challenges

Each connector board includes 8-pin connectors customized specifically for LED display systems. Since LED devices require precise pin configurations, mass production was initially constrained by the minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 5,000-8,000 pcs. Our client needed 50,000 pcs annually, which aligned well with our production capacity.

One major technical challenge was the yellow component section (as marked). Each of these components has unique pin spacing. One longer board requires two of these parts. Initially, the client did not provide detailed specifications. We worked with component factories to create samples and submitted them to the customer for testing. After three iterations, we finalized the component and passed customer verification.

Thanks to our client’s trust and patience, we overcame all the challenges.

Just like light is essential in life, LED displays have become indispensable in modern digital signage. Our circuit board solutions are tailor-made for these high-demand applications, and we believe the future market for LED display PCBA will continue to grow with strong potential.
